Description: | Abstract: This metadata set contains information about qualitative interviews that were collected in Kenya within the subproject B03 “Violent Futures?” of the Collaborative Research Center 228 “Future Rural Africa”. Data was gathered during field trips in between May 2018 and November 2019 in the Kenyan Rift Valley and sites along the proposed LAPSSET corridor in Northern Kenya. The data collection occurred in cooperation with Dr. Kennedy Mkutu from the United States International University in Nairobi and associated Master students. The data set contains abstracted information on interview partners and respective affiliations, type of interview, time period and place. Overall, 357 interviews were conducted. The questions addressed in the interviews centered on the following topics: - History of violence and recent violent events - Different ways of organizing violence and actors of violence - Social conflicts relating to land access and conservation and infrastructure projects - Land access - Future expectations towards infrastructure and conservation projects - Realised and expected benefits from infrastructure and conservation projects - Politics of participation/ information relating to infrastructure projects - The governance of conservancies |
